Regional Rail Link
Package E - Baulderstone Leighton Joint Venture
Project Value: $4 billion
In The Beginning
Dowling Dirtworks commenced working on site in May 2012 and were one of the very first contractors on the project.
To begin with we were involved in the trials on the surface minor to quantify its potential productivity and viability on the project. To carry out these trials we used GPS and on board weighing systems to calculate productivity.
The results showed that the surface minor had failed to produce the productivity required.
Our machines continued to work alongside the rail corridor for the remainder of the rock extraction.
Smashing Goals
Dowling Dirtworks organised and coordinated a fleet of machinery to complete a section near Baretta Road, North Division. Our scope of works was to move approximately 8,000m³ of very hard going rock and dirt with 24 hour rotating shifts during a 10 day rail occupation. The fleet consisted of 6 x 30T Articulated Dump Trucks.
In 48 hours Dowling Dirtworks had completed the bulk earthworks, an unbelievable 8 days ahead of schedule. We continued our 24 hour rotating shifts for the next 6 days and completed additional works that were not in our scope of works, putting Baulderstone weeks in advance of their schedule.
Through the use of state of the art technology our GPS guided machines were able to complete the works with the highest level of accuracy and precision.
